On 9th July 2015, a workshop on ‘Acting as a Career’ was held School. Famous personalities from film industry, Mumbai Mr. Jayant Gadekar and Mrs. Sonamoni Jayant, were interviewed by Asst. Headmistress (Secondary) and Radio Artist, Mrs. Megha Padhye and renowned person connected to theatre from Nagpur, Mr. Ravindra Haridas.
Mr. Jayant and Mrs. Sonamoni Jayant, both did their graduation from ‘National School of Drama’, New Delhi.
Mr. Jayant has acted in many popular films like ‘Rawdy Rathore’, Marathi Films – ‘Prime Time’, ‘Poster Boyz’, ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose : The Forgotten Hero’ and many more. While sharing his experiences (during interview), he told that a person should be welfocused in studies first, then on acting and one shouldn’t run just behind glamour. To be a good actor one should be a good human being.
Mrs. Sonamoni Jayant, an actress by profession has acted in ‘Shamitab’ as Danish’s Mother, in ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose : The Forgotten Hero’ as ‘Capt. Janaki and in ‘Kismat’ (TV Series) as Gunwanti to name a few. She even teaches theater and acting in various universities and institutes as a visiting faculty. While sharing her memorable moments she told that only on expressions, one chapter is taught and pracised.
For students she conveyed that they should participate in all extra curricular activities, conducted in the school.
This interview opened the eyes of students as they got aware, how academics as well as extra curricular activities are both important. They even understood how acting as a career, develops confidence, one learns dialogue delivery, body language including facial expressions and it also enhances personality, team spirit and coordination. Children enjoyed being with them to the fullest. It was a memorable day for the school.
